7 Olive Oil And Lemon Recipes You Should Try Right Now

Olive oil and lemon perfectly compliment each other’s benefits. Here are 7 of our best olive oil and lemon recipes – everything from delicious Mediterranean cakes to hair masks and slimming recipes. We have you covered and we also have our fingers crossed for you. These recipes are so easy that even a beginner can’t mess them up!

Olive Oil And Lemon Detox Cleansing Drink

Detoxes are usually overrated. Not this one, though. Instead of expensive juices made by a greedy company you will be using products you can find in your own pantry. The olive oil and lemon detox is one of the simplest and most effective strategies for cleansing yourself of toxins and slimming down. So how do you do it? Start by brewing some green tea. Green tea has a bunch of weight-loss benefits on its’ own so it is the perfect base for this drink. Wait until it is only slightly warm to lukewarm. If you add the other ingredients to a hot tea you will ruin their benefits. For summer, when I don’t particularly feel like a warm drink, I like to replace the green tea with a freshly squeezed juice. I love pineapple for this but it is one of the more calorie-dense options. If you want to harness some additional detox powers, try using spinach or another leafy green for a smoothie and base the drink on that. Finally, on lazy mornings I just use a glass of water. It’s not as fancy but it does the job just fine. Add the juice of half a lemon. Lemons are rich in vitamin C, they are very healthy for your liver (which is your natural detox station), plus they can even lower bad cholesterol. Then pour in a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. This oil also lowers your cholesterol (yes, even though it is a fat!) plus it has some amazing antioxidant properties! Have this drink every morning for at least two weeks. Combined with a healthy and clean diet it can help you drop pounds in no time!

The Hair Mask That Will Change Your Life

Olive oil and lemon are a duo made in heaven and that is not just because of their detox properties. Try mixing together this simple hair mask and see how your hair changes! The lemon is amazing for greasy hair, as it acts against microbes and other irritants and helps your scalp stay healthy and fresh for longer. Olive oil, on the other hand, will nourish your hair and give it a wonderful glow! Mix together one tablespoon of olive oil, the juice of one lemon, and one egg yolk. The oil and lemon might begin to separate so use the mask as soon as you whisk it together. Apply it to the full length of your hair, starting with the roots. Don’t be afraid to really get in there, the mask can even help you by providing some extra growth!

Banish Dandruff With This Easy Hair Tonic

Anti-dandruff tonics are usually pricey and they’re not always effective. One of the easiest home remedies for the dreaded flaking is olive oil and lemon-based tonic. Start by squeezing the juice of five lemons. Since you won’t be consuming them, it’s fine to use non-organic lemons for this recipe. Add one glass of water. You want to dilute the acidity of the lemon or else you might dry off your scalp and produce the opposite of the effect you want to achieve. Pour in three tablespoons of olive oil. This will provide moisture and nourishment for your scalp and hair. Finally, add 10-15 drops of tea tree oil to the mixture. Tea tree oil is optional but it is a powerful antimicrobial agent. Since some cases of dandruff are associated with bacteria, while others have to do with dry and flaky skin, this tonic helps against all possible causes. The lemon exfoliates old and dry skin while the olive oil moisturizes your scalp. Finally, the tea tree oil can help against any harmful bacteria that may have colonized your skin. All of this in a tonic that costs less than 5$ per bottle!

Olive Oil And Lemon Body Scrub

This is about to become your favourite DIY beauty product. It is so simple yet so incredibly effective! The olive oil and lemon sugar scrub is a staple, especially during the winter months. Bye-bye flaky skin! Mix together 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil, the juice of one lemon, and a cup of brown sugar. Massage them in circular motions after every shower. It’s perfect before you shave, as it takes off the dead skin and it lubricates so the razor can glide easier. Extra tip: Try adding coffee grounds for an anti-cellulite effect!

Lemon-Infused Olive Oil

Moving on to some edible olive oil and lemon combinations, you can bring luxury into your kitchen by preparing limoneto or lemon-infused olive oil. Limoneto is a simple yet incredibly flavourful version of infused olive oil! NB: Only use organic lemons for this recipe! We will be using the peel for the limoneto so you want to start by cleaning it out thoroughly. Yes, even if it is an organic lemon it can contain some nasty chemicals. It is best to scrub it clean – I even like to use soap. Better safe than sorry! Use a veggie peeler to get large strips of lemon zest. Only use the bright yellow part of the peel. Adding the white part underneath will make your limoneto bitter and unpleasant to taste. Pour one cup of olive oil into a pan and add the lemon zest. Put it over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes without allowing it to simmer. If you heat up the olive oil too much it will lose some of its benefits. Alternatively, you can do an entirely cold process of extraction. Simply place the zest and the olive oil in a dark glass container for anywhere between ten days and a month. The longer the zest spends in the oil, the more developed the taste will be!

Impressive One-Bowl Pound Cake

This cake is so moist and delicious that you won’t believe how easy it is to make it! The recipe is modified from Little Spice Rack but it is based on a classic Italian dessert. When you hear the word Italian relating to food you know that it will be good! ¾ cup olive oil 1 cup brown sugar 3 large eggs ½ cup milk 2 cups of self-raising flour 1 tablespoon of lemon zest 2 tablespoons of lemon juice a pinch of salt and nutmeg
  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Oil a 9x5 loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, start by beating the eggs with a high-speed mixer. Add the sugar, the spices, and the lemon zest and lemon juice.
  3. Slowly add the olive oil, the milk and the flour. Fold the flour in last and do it as gently as possible. 4. Pour the batter into your pan and place it in the oven for around an hour. You want to check in on the cake with a toothpick around the 50-minute mark.
  4. Once the pound cake is baked, take it out of the pan immediately and place it on a wire rack. Leave it to cool for around 20 minutes and lightly dust it with powdered sugar before serving!

The Easiest Salad Dressing You Can Dream Of

This shouldn’t even be a recipe. But in case you are a complete kitchen newbie (like me) or need a reminder, here is one of the easiest and best salad dressings out there: The Lemon Vinaigrette It’s a staple dressing with a twist. The classic French vinaigrette features vinegar (hence the name) and any plant oil you like. The lemon vinaigrette, on the other hand, has a decidedly Mediterranean vibe. Simply mix equal parts of freshly squeezed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. Shake it well and use it to dress your salad. To add some interest and extra flavour, you can try adding a tablespoon of honey (Manuka honey works amazingly for this), some mustard, or even some of your favourite spices. My personal favourite way to change up the lemon vinaigrette is adding turmeric and fresh ginger!

Bonus Tip: Olive Oil And Lemon To Banish The Flu

This last tip is perfect as we get into the flu season. While the meds are doing their job killing the bacteria, this recipe will help alleviate your symptoms and boost your immunity. Every year, come the winter months I swear by the olive oil rub! It’s an easy recipe, too. Simply mix together 1 cup of olive oil, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, and 10 drops of eucalyptus oil. The lemon helps pick you up and re-energize you while the eucalyptus clears your congested airways. You can also add a couple of drops of mint oil (it makes my eyes super watery, that’s why I avoid it) for some additional benefits. I like to rub this over my chest (and frankly, all over my body) when I’m sick. It’s an instant symptom relief – much better than Vaporub!
